Membership Purchase Instructions
The Sportsman’s Club of Franklin County (SCFC)
Board of Directors welcomes you to the club.
We hope you enjoy our shooting ranges.
As a member of SCFC you are required to familiarize yourself
with the Safety Rules Document and to help maintain the club and its ranges.
Keep the rules and be sure to read them before using the shooting ranges.
Read and sign the ONE sheet at the end and return with your dues payment.

Safety Regulations
SCFC memberships are for a calendar year covering
Jan 1st
– Dec 31st of current year.
Membership Fees cover the use of the Outdoor Rifle/Pistol
Range, Skeet & Trap and Archery ranges.
The board of directors may change dues at any time.
Identification is required with the use of the membership card.
Memberships are for a family including spouses and children
under the age of eighteen. Guests are allowed based on the
Guest Policy as detailed in that section of the packet.
An RFID card is now issued for the electronic gates.
This card must be kept as long as you remain an SCFC
Member as the enrollment dates can be updated each time
you pay your annual membership fees. Although the cards are
permanent, your annual membership covers the calendar year
January 1 (or from activation) through December 31.
Loss of the card will result in an additional charge for a
replacement. For a replacement membership card contact the
Membership Chairman via the Club website.

Safety Regulations
At the Sportsman’s Club of Franklin County (SCFC) safety is the first and most
important consideration in conducting its activities. To that end, the following rules
are to be followed by all members of the Club and non-members using SCFC
facilities.
These rules may be changed at any time by the Club Officers or Board of Directors.
Rules may be changed for a Club sanctioned event or activity.

General Club Rules
When using club facilities, all members are to have their membership card in their
possession.
The membership card and supporting identification must be displayed to anyone who
asks for it.
Shooting on or off club grounds, always observe the four fundamental rules of safe gun
handling.
● “Muzzle Control”: Always point firearms in a safe direction.
● Never load a firearm until you are ready to shoot
● Leave your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
● Always be sure of your backstop before shooting
No drugs or alcoholic beverages are allowed on Club property. The Club President and
Board of Directors may allow exceptions for alcoholic beverages to be served at the
Clubhouse for special events.
Persons under the influence of drugs or alcoholic beverages are NOT allowed on Club
property.
Disruptive behavior or destruction of Club property can result in dismissal from the Club.
No hunting is allowed on Club property without written permission of the President or
Board of Directors.
On firing ranges, all range officers’ instructions are to be followed.
Members are asked to notify a Club Officer of any serious safety violations.
On all shooting ranges, eye and ear protection are required by all persons when firearms
are being discharged. Double plugging, e.g. plugs and muffs are recommended.
All firearms on Club property are to remain unloaded and preferably cased until used on
a range.

Firearms, unloaded and with actions open, may be uncased in the clubhouse for training
or for display purposes at Club events.
Firearms are not to be discharged on Club property except on designated ranges in
accordance with the rules of the particular range.
Firearms are not to be discharged on the archery range.
All persons under 18 years of age are to be under the supervision of an adult.
No glass or metal containers are allowed on the Club ranges.
In the event of a misfire keep the firearm pointed down range for 30 seconds before
opening the action to clear the defective round. For a black powder firearm wait at least
two minutes. Give the defective ammunition to the Range Officer or dispose of it
properly.
Guest Policy
SCFC memberships apply to a family including spouses and children through the age of
17. Children must be accompanied and supervised by parents.
Members are allowed to bring up to two (2) guests at one time.
o Guests must be accompanied by a Member at all times. Loaning a
membership card to another person is a violation of club policy.
o Membership hosts are responsible for the actions of their guests and
their adherence to club rules and policies.
o Access to the Club is monitored and abuse of this policy can lead to loss of
membership.
Non-Members are able to attend Club sanctioned and supervised events as noted
on the Club calendar.

Safety Regulations
Outdoor Rifle / Pistol Range
Persons are not to move forward of the firing line unless all firearms on the range are
unloaded and benched with actions open and magazines removed. Empty chamber
indicators are preferred.
All firearms must be aimed. Shooting from the hip or any other position without
use of the sights is not allowed.
Firearms are not to be handled until everyone is behind the benches and/or firing
line.
Only paper targets and those specifically authorized by Club management may be
used. No bottles, cans or other items are allowed.
Before going downrange, you must communicate to all other shooters to cease shooting
and to unload and bench all firearms.
All targets must be placed at the base of berms on the mounting provided or as
described below. Alternate target placement may occur under the supervision of a
Range Safety Officer.
To avoid ricochets, targets are not to be placed such that rounds will hit flat ground.
No shooting intermediate range targets. Alternate target placement may occur under the
supervision of a Range Safety Officer.
Ammo with explosive projectiles is not allowed.
Explosive targets and/or any type of explosive device are not allowed.
Tracer ammunition is not allowed.
Shooting at targets placed on top of the backstop or side berms is not allowed. Climbing
on the berms is not allowed.
Shooters are to dispose of all targets, brass and waste materials when finished
shooting.
Shooting of shotguns (shot or slugs) is allowed only with USER SUPPLIED target
stands.
On the three new Pistol Ranges (ones closest to the Clubhouse) ONLY pistol calibers
are allowed to be fired. No center-fire rifle is allowed.

Skeet and Trap Range
On the skeet range, uncased and unloaded guns may be placed on the gun racks. Semi-
autos and pump actions are to have their actions open.
Only shotguns and handguns shooting shot shells may be fired on the skeet/trap ranges.
Rifles and handguns, except as noted above, are not to be fired on the trap/skeet
ranges.
On the skeet/trap ranges, never load more than two shells at a time
Slugs and buckshot will not be fired at the skeet and trap range.
Shooting is allowed only from the skeet and trap shooting stations and at the
patterning board.
Do not walk in front of low house windows when the skeet machine is running.
Shooters are to recover all of their ejected shell casings.
All persons not shooting or refereeing trap or skeet are to remain on the clubhouse side
of the power poles when shooting is in progress.
Archery Range
Arrows are not to be released on Club property except on the archery range at approved
targets. The only exception is hunting with written permission of the Club President.
All arrows are to be retrieved
Broadhead arrows are not to be used.
Firearms are not to be discharged on the archery range.
